Merit Award for Interior Architecture - Commercial

Hafary is proud to announce the win of the SIA Architectural Design Awards 2021 in the category of Interior Architecture – Commercial, Merit, for the successful extension of the Hafary Gallery.

Designed and conceptualised by Park + Associates, the Hafary Gallery transports one’s inner child through a series of enchanted spaces judiciously crafted from tiles and natural stones. Inside, these materials transcend mere surface coverings and adopt an experimental motif of defining space.

Unlike conventional showrooms that often showcase a plethora of collections, at the new Hafary Gallery, limited tiles were carefully selected to be showcased to reduce visual clutter with an emphasis on drawing one’s attention to the selected tile’s unique trait within a specific zone.

Tiles are also used in unexpected ways on the floors, walls, countertops, furniture and facade. These unconventional applications results in interesting detailing and fixing strategies. The Hafary Gallery transports clients and visitors into a fantasyland where they are free to dream of different application possibilities using this familiar material.

The retail experience thus surpasses monetary transactions, becoming one that is also tectonically educational and experiential.

The SIA Architectural Design Awards is the most prestigious award conferred by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) to promote and encourage distinction in architectural design. The award shines the spotlight on projects that demonstrate design resilience, responsiveness to new design sensibilities, environmental sustainability and well-being for its users and inhabitants in these times.
